Testimonials:

Welcome Break Services

Welcome Break is one of the largest and most established Motorway Services operators in the UK with 26 sites. The popular Services extend throughout the motorway network covering multiple sites at prime locations, offering the motorist refreshments, amenities, fuel, accommodation and washroom facilities.

Background:

As some of the busiest sites in the country open 24/7, Welcome Break facilities receive over 6 million visitors a month with predominantly high foot traffic targeted at the washrooms. For two years, the gents’ washroom urinals had a urinal cartridge system fitted to each of the urinals with water flushing once an hour throughout the day. The cartridges were replaced regularly in order to help combat smells and odours.

Objectives:

The Clients key objective was to reduce its water and sewage costs across the 26 sites, as significantly, fresh water and waste water disposal charges have risen by 15% per annum across the Welcome Break regions. The client also wanted to dramatically reduce the number of urinal issues it was having with pipe work blockages and urinal malodours.

Solution:

eco-cube was selected as the product to implement due to its effectiveness in resolving these urinal issues, its simplicity of implementation, operation and its proven cost saving abilities.
Facts:
After 6 months of eco-cube being placed in the washroom, Welcome Break have saved:
- 42,942,000 litres of water and waste water
- £73,000 water saving
- 17,341 kg of Co2
Subsidiary benefits have included:
- Large reduction in urinal blockages caused through uric and lime scale build-up
- Elimination of chemicals in the urinal cleaning
- Improved washroom fragrance
- Complete environmental compliance

‘As one of the UK’s largest Motorway Service Operators with 26 sites our washrooms are some of the very busiest in the country. With the high volume of users, our washrooms have always required a great deal of urinal maintenance and I am now happy to say that since we have been using eco-cube these issues have been dramatically reduced. The cube is also assisting our business in other areas too with a significant 32% reduction in our water consumption and waste water outputs, and at the same time helping us to improve on our environmental integrity.”
Andrew Collier, Purchasing Manager, Welcome Break

“All the washrooms at our 24 hour sorting offices are incredibly busy. eco-cube has impressed me as well as our cleaning staff with its ability in keeping the washroom urinals clean, fresh smelling and free from blockages.”
Paul Gerrard, Operations Manager, Romec Ltd, Royal Mail, Filton

"UK Coal introduced eco-cube in 2006 and since then have reduced mains water use with no adverse effects. The system is cost effective and 'pays for itself' as well as reducing the use of water resources."
Martin Bahlaj - Environment Manager UK Coal PLC

‘We save 25 million litres of water per year and the washrooms have never smelled better’
C.Wood, Intrawest Resorts

“The performance of the eco-cube has been nothing short of amazing! I have received numerous compliments from the housekeeping staff in terms of ease of cleaning and lack of odour, along with positive feedback from members. In fact one member told me, “The men’s room finally smells good .”
Andrew Furtkamp, FM Supervisor, Rim Golf Club

We recently installed the eco-cube in our men’s washroom and have been thrilled by its performance. Our guests are amazed by how fresh our washroom now smells and it’s been an unlikely but incredible conversation piece! As a small business we have saved money and helped do our part for the environment by conserving water.
Andrew Brindisi, Owner, Brindisi Restaurant

“With no COSHH requirement, eco-cube makes our life much easier; and our cleaning staff are highly complimentary of the product.”
D&B Facilities Management Ltd, Kent

”We were using vast quantities of water to try to keep our boys washrooms clean, however since we have been using eco-cube we have cut down our water usage to zero and as a result the water and sewage savings are considerable. We do not get the foul smells that were emitted from the drains anymore and in fact we have nothing but positive comments from both the school staff and the cleaners regarding the improved state of the washrooms.”
John Hay, Property Manager of St James Senior School, Twickenham, Middlesex

“Before eco-cube was installed, the site was flushing fresh water every 15 minutes into the urinals to try to keep them clean, even through the night. We were using vast quantities of water and chemicals to try to keep our washrooms clean. eco-cube will also assist in our company’s environmental compliance.”
D S Smith Packaging plc

‘Our urinals have a high frequency of use and the cartridges are prone to blockages. Usingeco-cube saves us a large amount of money in cartridge replacements and plumbing call outs’
Kenneth Calloway, Maintenance Supervisor, Kaibab Industries

“We have tried everything in the past to cure the problems we have had with our heavily used urinals. We can get over 25,000 people a day in our Shopping Centre. We were flushing water all the time and this was costing us over £800.00 a month. Since we installed eco-cube we have seen a remarkable difference not only in cost saving but we have had no scale blockages at all! The bore on the waste outlets pipes has visibly increased and this can only be down to the product. I am very pleased with the system and its simplicity and would definitely recommend eco-cube to anyone with urinals.”
Colin Foley, Operations Manager, Green Lane Shopping Cente, Barnstaple

"The continued use of concentrated biocides and detergents as part of the cleaning process harms the environment which we all inhabit, as well as posing a health and safety threat to the cleaning operatives themselves. The adoption of the bio-remediation system, removes this hazard and also significantly reduces the Naval Base Estate’s consumption of potable water by up to £250,000 per annum."
Establishment Works Consultant (EWC), MOD

"We are certainly making savings of £3000 a month on our water and sewage costs across our 8 building estate. eco-cube has easily paid for itself many times over as well as helping our business become greener. It has also really impressed our cleaning staff, and that is not easy!"
Malcolm Watson, TKM Developments

‘Absolutely amazing. Saves money, saves energy and water and my washroom has never smelled cleaner’
R. Stockman, Fargo’s Steakhouse

'We had 30 water management systems installed across the centre which require just one flush a day and when combined with eco-cube, over one year this will save us £30,000 in water rates which equates to a very worthwhile investment'.
Mike Smith, Head of Building Services, Manchester Arndale Centre
